In today's world of information overload, misinformation, clickbait, and AI, being a careful consumer of information is more important than ever. Join University Libraries for this session in which we'll discuss ways to be intentional in your media consumption and information sharing, how to evaluate information for accuracy, authority and bias, and how to contribute to the information ecosystem ethically. Katie Lorton, Director of Research and Branch Services, will share ways that University Libraries is working to help students develop their media literacy skills, and how learners of all ages can benefit from these skills.

Design Thinking is a human-centered, iterative approach to problem solving that prioritizes understanding audience needs and motivations, generating creative solutions, and testing them through prototyping and iteration. Design thinking strategies have been used in product design, educational innovation, marketing, storytelling, and more. This workshop will walk you through the design thinking process, explain how to apply it in a variety of work settings, and explore how to elevate and expedite the design thinking process through the integration of AI tools.

Throughout this course, you will learn about the various components of the Elementary Literacy edTPA. By the end of the course, you will be prepared to complete your own portfolio for submission. To complete this course, you will need access to the Elementary Literacy edTPA Handbook, as well as Making Good Choices and Understanding Rubric Level Progressions documents. They are available from Pearson and/or your Educator Preparation Program.

Course will cover speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. It will prepare you for real-life experiences such as filling out forms, reading labels, learning about college and finding jobs.

This course will assist beginner English language learners in improving their English. The learning materials in the course are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) level A1.
