Course Description

This series provides teachers with foundational frameworks and instructional supports to improve students’ learning beyond classroom walls. Teachers will create a framework of each by the end of each module.

Earns 18 Professional Growth Points/Development Hours.

Learning Objectives

Topics discussed in the course:

Developing a conceptual understanding of how to infuse mathematics and science standards in meaningful and authentic ways, which build foundational skills in science and math content and prepare students for college and careers.

Preparing students with research-based approaches to apply science, technology, engineering, and math in ways that are authentic and applicable versus based upon rote memorization or complicit ways of thinking in one problem-solving approach.

Building 21st-century skills which are critical competencies in applying the newly acquired math and science content in ways that prepare students for college and careers through the development of cognitive, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and collaborative engagement which occurs in STEM education.

Reevaluating standards and practices of past college and career readiness to better align with the needs of the ever-changing workforce and emphasized demands on science, technology, engineering, and math knowledge to better suit the future of jobs and our workforce necessities.
