Speaker Bio

I am an E-learning UI/UX designer and developer . I have been involved in multiple projects to design and develop learning games, simulations, and web learning tools to facilitate learning and teaching. I have experiences of graphic design, interaction design, game design and web application design and development. I am passionate about game-based storytelling, particularly using game related elements to create meaningful and interactive learning environments that support literacy learning.

I am a teacher and a design-based researcher. I have taught and co-taught various undergraduate and graduate level design courses in face-to-face, mixed, and online modalities. I designed various learning activities that help my students generate creative design ideas and teach them skills needed to realize their design ideas. I am interested in facilitating the creativity of students in the design process. Specifically, I have been dedicated myself to designing and evaluating a magic-based teaching method to promote design thinking and creativity in a design studio learning environment. To know more about this method and related research, you can read those two news reports (UGA Magazine, UGA Today) or those two peer-reviewed studies(Article1, Article2).

I am an visual illusionist. I have been learning and performing magic for 10+ years. I am fancinated by the principles and methods used by magician to create visual illusions. I used these principles to teach UI design and user experience design in my design studio course. I regard magic not only as an entertaining tool but also as an educational method that can transform students' learning experiences.
